Tickets to go on sale for spectacular Tour de France opening ceremony

Tickets for the 2027 Tour de France opening ceremony at Edinburgh Castle, including the highly anticipated presentation of the riders, will go on sale to fans from this Friday (23 October).

The opening ceremony takes place from 18:30 on Wednesday 30 June, giving fans the chance to be part of history as the world’s best cyclists are presented ahead of the 114th men’s Tour de France departing from Edinburgh on Friday 2 July.

Next summer marks the first time the men’s and women’s races will take place in the same country outside of France, with millions expected to take to the streets for the world’s biggest free-to-watch sporting event.

Against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the opening ceremony will combine elite sport with an unmistakable Scottish welcome from The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, producers of one of the world’s greatest immersive events. Featuring Highland dancers, massed pipes and drums, and new music created specially for the occasion, the ceremony will celebrate Scotland’s culture and creativity while marking the start of an historic Grand Départ. From Edinburgh, the men’s race will travel south to Carlisle before continuing through the Lake District to Liverpool, before heading into Wales for a finish in Cardiff.

• Grand Départ GB fans who are subscribed to the official newsletter for next year’s Grands Départs prior to Friday morning will have exclusive access to a pre-sale window from midday on Friday 23 October.
• Members of British Cycling, Scottish Cycling and Beicio Cymru will have access to a pre-sale window from midday on Saturday 24 October.
• Customers of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will have access to a pre-sale beginning at midday on Monday 26 October.
• All pre-sale windows will close at midnight on Wednesday 28 October.
• General sale of tickets will then begin from midday on Friday 30 October.

While the opening ceremony and presentation of the riders take place on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, with tickets priced from £27, the celebrations will extend beyond its walls, giving fans across Scotland’s capital the chance to see the riders en route to the Castle and join in the festivities ahead of the Grand Départ free-of-charge.
