Creating positive social change both on and off the bike

We are delighted to announce the launch of our Social Impact programme – JOY; embedding community impact at the heart of the Grand Départ.

Our missions clearly define how the Grand Départ  will positively impact households and businesses across the UK as we welcome this landmark event for cycling.

Whether you are an active cyclist or are yet to be exposed to the sport, we will bring the Joy of cycling to you through positive social change.

Our programmes

Girls Participation

A 12 week learn to ride programme, designed by girls, for girls with the joint ambition of building a lifelong relationship with movement through both on and off the bike activities.Rolling out across the UK from late summer, find out where the closest girls participation programme is in your area by contacting us above. 

Employability

Harnessing the unique upskilling potential of a mega-event, we will embed work experience and skills development into the delivery of the Grand Départ Depart. Working collaboratively across sectors with a joint ambition of supporting young people to enter the workforce.  

Our Readiness to Work programme is open to 18-25 year old volunteers, keen to build up their skills and network through training and career-sector mentoring. Apply to be a volunteer now and select our Readiness to Work programme for your chance to be involved here. Applications close September 1.  

Soft Power, Trade & Diplomacy

This programme offers potential to advance both the UK and Grand Départ  partners soft power objectives, within European and Global markets. The event will be positioned as a vehicle to strengthen UK/France diplomatic, trade, investment and sporting relations.

Arts & Culture

The programme will embed communities into our animation of the Grand Départ, celebrate the heritage of each home nation, reflect local culture and spotlight cycling experiences as a vital part of everyday life.

Digital Schools

The Digital Schools programme will embed both physical and non-physical literacy across primary and secondary education supporting children & young people develop the skills, confidence and knowledge to thrive in movement and mindset.

The offer will include: 

  • Physical literacy resources for early years 
  • Core curriculum based resources and lesson plans for ages 5-11. 
  • A business simulation challenge for 14-16 year olds to build their own Grand Depart. 
  • Resources will be rolled out from August 2026. More details to come. 
Community Engagement Toolkit

The Toolkit will be the go-to guide to engage with  Grand Départ  2027, consisting of a variety of ‘how-to’ resources enabling communities to bring the essence of the Tour de France or Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift to their area, alongside developing skills and creating experiences for communities to come together.
